California State University-Dominguez Hills, established in 1960, is one of the nearly two dozen colleges that together comprise the California State University system. Campus Setting
Students at CSU-Dominguez Hills enjoy an amazing campus setting that values community, engagement within a multicultural environment, and a vibrant student life and social calendar. Southern California has gorgeous and warm weather year-round, and students at CSU-Dominguez Hills can enjoy an amazing 360 degree view of the surrounding area from atop the high altitude of the campus, which overlooks downtown Los Angeles, the San Pedro harbor, and the hills of Palos Verdes. The campus is famous for melaleuca “shedding bark” trees, as well as eucalyptus trees. On this picturesque campus, a thriving Greek Community brings many social events to students, who can also participate in dozens of university organizations and clubs on campus. Recent additions and renovations have brought new athletic facilities and beautiful academic architecture to campus.
Academics
CSU Dominguez Hills is a state-of-the art educational institution that is home to 14,670 students enrolled in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. The university features six separate colleges, including: the College of Arts and Humanities; the College of Business Administration and Public Policy; the College of Education; the College of Extended and International Education; the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences; and the College of Health, Human Services, and Nursing. From these six colleges of the university, students can earn degrees in 46 undergraduate majors, as well as in 22 graduate majors.
Athletics
Over 80,000 worldwide alumni celebrate the 10 intercollegiate NCA Toros athletics teams of CSU Dominguez Hills, which participate in Division II athletic competitions. The mens athletic teams include baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, while women’s sports include basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball, and both participate in track and field.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Annual tuition for in-state students is one of the most affordable in the country, at a total of $6,099 per academic year. Out-of-state students may pay more based upon course credits and units, at a fee of approximately $375 per unit. Additional costs may include transportation, housing,, books, and other educational supplies. Qualified students may earn scholarships, grants, and loans to serve as financial aid.
Accreditation
CSUDH has been reaffirmed for ten years of accreditation in 2008 from the WASC Educational Effectiveness Review. Many other national and international accreditation organizations have certified the program as well.
